Quite often young people admit to the adults around them that they’re feeling somewhat hopeless in the face of what is going on with the climate and ecology. Fortunately middle grade authors have responded by writing cli-fi (climate fiction) that doesn’t shy away from the problems but also features plucky individuals who take as stance in solving at least some of the problems that are close to them and within their capabilities.
Today’s posters are related to a trans-disciplinary unit we will be doing with our Grade 6 students early next year, where in science they will be learning about ecosystems and researching their problems and potential solutions and writing about them in their ELA classes. Please feel free to add any suggestions you may have to enhance this collection. And if you’re an author – the world is seriously in need of more books about mangroves!
